We are Second City

We are a high-energy rock pop and retro covers band from the West Midlands. We cover a rich variety of songs all selected and performed to entertain the audience.

We have been performing rock, pop and retro covers across music venues in the West Midlands and beyond since 2004. We are an established member of the live music community in and around Birmingham, performing in pubs on live music nights, weddings, and other private functions. We also perform ticket / pay on the door gigs

Our songs cover a wide genre, from the 70s (such as T-Rex, Undertones, Buzzcocks) to the present day (Stereophonics, Lost Prophets).

  • Band get together last night - tested all the cables (exciting) and planned the way forward. Major set overhaul coming. Three current songs killed off for just not doing it anymore. A few old ones being dusted off and revisited. Most exciting was new candidates we'll be trying out. After recent addition of really rocky tracks we're gonna try and 'balance' the set.

  • Thanks to everyone who attended on Saturday - the event was a huge success with the weather holding out for us and a great atmosphere on the day (I have never seen so many kids on a bouncy castle at once in my life!) Thanks to Soul Matters (there's some talented kids!) and of course to Cara Pratt Was Griffiths for helping out so much and selling so many tickets. Wathc this space for the next one!

18th June 2011 Gig - buy tickets online!

Second City Headline Hampton in Arden Village Cricket Club Fundraiser

For the first time in 18 months, and since Rob joined us as our new drummer, we are performing at a public gig, and it's not just any old gig. It will be held at Hampton in Arden Sports Club (map below) and is a fundraising day for the cricket section of the club (for whom Tommo plays....badly).

The event will start at 3pm and finish at 9pm, and will be outdoors on the cricket pitch (pray for good weather!). As well as Second City performing, there will be a couple of support acts (to be confirmed) and a barbeque and of course a cash bar.

You are welcome to bring picnics and make a day of it, and we'd really like people to bring their whole family and their friends along too. To keep the children amused, we are looking into various options including bouncy castle, facepainting, and possibly a bit of junior cricket (of course). Also, there may be opportunity for the children to hit a few drums, twang a few guitars and feel what it's like to sing through a 1KW microphone....

We've kept tickets as inexpensive as possible, and really want to see loads of you there - capacity is unlimited so let's see if we can make Hampton in Arden rock, and those of you with families can educate their kids in the wonders of live music (though if they start pestering you for a drum kit for Christmas we take no responsibility!). The budget we have for this is dependent on how many children's tickets we sell though, so please bring your children and invite your friends so that we can push the boat out without breaking the bank.

Buying Tickets

The event is ticket only - this is by necessity as it is a private sports club and is not licensed to have attendees who are not ticketed (note that in the event of you wanting to bring someone extra on the day, we can bend the rules and sell them there and then).

You can buy tickets online below via paypal and they can be collected on the day. You can pay by credit or debit card or through your paypal account if you have one. You can also buy directly from

 - any one of the band members
 - any one of the cricket committee
 - from behind the bar at the sports club

Now you're here though - why not buy one now?
